The basics

Post-mix syrup, explained

One box of concentrate, five parts carbonated water, sixty litres of finished drink. Here is how post-mix works, and why Bag-in-Box became the standard way to serve soft drinks at scale.

What is post-mix?

Post-mix is soft drink served as two components that meet in the dispenser: a concentrated syrup and carbonated water. The syrup arrives in a sealed bag inside a carton, the dispenser mixes it with chilled carbonated water at the tap, and the drink is made at the moment it is poured. Nothing is bottled, nothing is transported as finished liquid, and nothing goes flat on a shelf.

The alternative, pre-mix, ships the finished carbonated drink in kegs or bottles. It works, but you are paying to transport water. With post-mix, one 10 L box replaces sixty litres of bottled drink in your logistics chain.

The 1 + 5 ratio

Our syrups dilute at 1 + 5: one part syrup to five parts carbonated water. A 10 L Bag-in-Box therefore yields 60 litres of finished drink, roughly 240 servings at 250 ml. The dispenser handles the ratio mechanically, so every glass pours consistent.

Why Bag-in-Box

The bag collapses as it empties, so the syrup never touches air. That means long shelf life without preservative-heavy formulation, no CO2 needed to push product out, and a used package that folds flat. A standard EUR pallet carries 64 boxes, which is 3,840 litres of finished drink per pallet position. For higher volumes the same principle scales to 500 L and 1000 L reusable cube containers with a single liner bag.

What you need to serve post-mix

A post-mix dispenser with chilled carbonation, a CO2 supply, water connection, and the connector that matches your Bag-in-Box outlet. Connectors are standardised but not universal, which is why we stock CMB, Univalve, and Unique fittings alongside the syrup itself.

Common questions

How many drinks come from one 10 L Bag-in-Box?

At 1 + 5 dilution a 10 L box yields 60 litres of finished drink, which is about 240 servings of 250 ml or 180 servings of 330 ml.

How long does post-mix syrup keep?

Unopened, months at room temperature; the sealed bag keeps air out even while dispensing. Exact best-before is printed on every box.

Do I need different syrup for different dispensers?

No. The syrup is the same; what differs is the connector between the box and your line. Match the connector type and any post-mix dispenser will pour it.
